As 2025 comes to a close, let’s review this year’s investigations. What type of investigations do RGH Investigations see the most? What is the most interesting case to our blog readers this past year? 2025 has been an interesting year, filled with cases around immigration, accidents and wrongful convictions/mistakes. Come join us with our 2025 year in review.
The Most Liked Case: Wrongful Conviction
This year, the most ‘liked’ case on LinkedIn was the Investigating Innocence in a Wrongful Conviction Case. This case involved a real example of wrongful eviction in the Chicagoland area. Wrongful convictions are relatively uncommon. Only 0.016% of all cases are wrongful convictions. It seems to take a stroke of horrible luck to be convicted wrongfully, but it can happen to anyone. Over 10 years ago, an Illinois resident was convicted of murder and sent to prison. He claimed in court he was not guilty. Witnesses testified falsely, which sent him to jail. Due to a drug addiction, the main witness’s testimony was rescinded and the court case re opened. Very recently, the man was not found guilty, and let go. Private investigators like RGH Investigations can help build a case by locating and interviewing witnesses within legal means.
International Investigations and Immigration
This year, RGH Investigations ran into a number of immigrations, or visa related cases. This is partially due to several legal changes in this field. International investigations encompass many topics. It can include tracking missing persons across borders or looking into international crime or financial fraud. RGH saw two international cases. One was regarding a visa denial. A new immigrant with limited documentation contacted a RGH investigator to look into an unjust visa denial. Immigration officers were using this individual’s arrest as a reason to deny his visa. However, RGH uncovered that there was an affidavit from the victim that said there was no domestic violence and charges were dropped. The immigrant was then able to receive his visa.
The second international investigation case involves marriage fraud. Though cases about marriage fraud are fun on TV, in real life, it’s a serious matter. In this case, RGH Investigations was called by a wife to investigate her husband’s past. She was trying to find out if he was cheating, but instead, found out so much more! We uncovered that her Nigerian husband was using her as a way to receive a visa, but had another wife and a child. On top of it all, he had a record for domestic abuse. Concerned, his wife contacted authorities, and her husband is now facing immigration repercussions.
